Instead of using so much vinegar for a soak, I keep an 8 oz spray bottle filled with straight vinegar. It makes it easy to clean anything with a small squirt before needing to deal with a thick mineral build up.

I feel your pain. I was climbing up a wood rack when I worked retail and put my hand down on a very bad spot. I had about 20 splinters or more of various sizes stuck in my hand. I removed all that I found and self treated then had to go to doctor about a week later due to infection. Dr gave me topical medicine and instructions but that wasn't sufficient, so about a month after my big mistake, I needed to have surgery. Seven stitches and a scar later, my hand was getting better. 2 days later, I was back at work. I was the assistant manager of a men's shoe store, and we provided the traditional services of helping guys put on their shoes. Most customers would ask if it hurts as they could see my stitches pulling. Sometimes, it hurt but never too much. I ditched the pain meds the day after the surgery. Hope you heal up well.

have you ever had problems with the bottles heating up and shattering? Because I made something a bit similar but I noticed that the tip of the bottle can get really hot after a few minutes, so now I'm worried about that. Then again, I'm not using these kits, I just drilled and smashed the metal caps into shape and insulated them with teflon tape, then made my own wicks by braiding strips of an old cotton shirt and treating it with salt water.

This would have worked for me but the plastic piece at the bottom dissolved and it no longer formed a seal when reassembled, it worked for 5 years so it's not too bad.

I made perfectly spherical, clear ice balls using this device following your instructions, thank you! I made a couple of adjustments: fill the bottom with warm water until it just touches the silicone tray, put the top and bottom molds together first - press them together firmly at all places so you don't get equator rings on the balls. Then put the mold in the big container. Fill the spheres with *cold/iced* water using a funnel. Rotate around all the spheres. Water finds its level so as you fill one it is emptying and the others are filling from the bottom up (with warmer water), so rotate around all of them a few times to make them all cold. Directional freezing is the whole point, so we want the top cold and freezing first and the bottom warm(er). This is a bit of a pain. Then I weighed the mold down with an ice pack - it floats a little which could empty the top of the mold slightly - and put it in the middle of the freezer.
